Unlike most of the country, we have had a couple gorgeous days here in the SW. Yesterday was no exception with highs reaching the upper 60's! I am not typically very sporadic, but woke up yesterday and decided we needed to get out of the house. Kids were so excited when I woke them up and told them to get ready for a day at the zoo/aquarium. On the way, M- said, "I think this is the first field trip we've had all year!". Sadly he was correct. We've have been pretty focused on school - especially with E-'s high school schedule. One of the perks of homeschooling is not only taking a much needed day when you need it, but enjoying places of interest without the crowds during the week. I love our zoo with it's landscape, walking paths, and large selection of animals! Yesterday the polar bears were actively playing with their toys and diving in the water, baby orangutan was jumping all over mom, and the baby elephant was easy to see. We topped the day off by indulging in some frozen custard before heading home. Judging by the number of "thank-yous" and hugs I received from both kiddos at the end of the day, I know playing hooky was the right decision... and I am pretty sure I need to be more sporadic when it comes to getting out in the near future!
